The expression “narrative preaching” arose in the 1970s as a programmatic concept in the context of various conceptions of narrative theology (Metz, Ritschl). Today, the expression is more often used analytically, to describe particular linguistic achievements of a type of preaching under its homiletical aspects (Homiletics).
