I. Place in the Canon

The book of Obadiah (Gk Abdias) is part of the Book of the Twelve (Prophetic books); in the Hebrew canon it follows Amos, in the Greek, Joel (cf. Lives of the Prophets). It shares motifs and catchwords with both.
