Patrick is known as the apostle of Ireland. Information about his life and work is uncertain, not least because he was confused early on with the Celtic bishop Palladius. The beginning of his mission has been dated between 432 and 460, his death between 461 and 491. His personal writings, the Confessio and Epistola miltibus Corotici, are considered genuine.
