I. Terminology

The term psychotherapy is a literal borrowing from Greek philosophy: τῆς ψυχῆς ϑεραπεία/́s psychḗs therapeía (or ἐπιμέλεια/epiméleia) denoted the (pedagogical) care and nurture that Plato believed the immortal soul required.
