I. General

Belgrade is the capital of the Republic of Serbia, which has an area of 88,361 km2 and as of 1991 a population of 9.78 million (7.82 million without Kosovo). It includes two autonomous provinces, Voivodina and Kosovo, the latter under United Nations administration from 1999 to 2008.
