1. General survey. Biblical Palestine lies along the Mediterranean border of the Arabian plateau. This region covers the greater part of the present State of Israel, except the southern desert, and the Kingdom of Jordan, except the eastern desert. In length about 150 miles, it falls within the parallels 31° to 34° latitude.
