§ 629. Qāsim [b.] Yūsuf Abū-Naṣrī [so Āṣafīyah and Nad̲h̲īr Aḥmad, but ibn Abī Naṣr according to Ivanow] Anṣārī Ṭabasī [so Ivanow 1612, but Ṭabībī in Ivanow Curzon 628, while Āṣafīyah and Nad̲h̲īr Aḥmad omit] used the tak̲h̲alluṣ “Qāniʿī” according to Nad̲h̲īr Aḥmad.¹

Irs̲h̲ād al-zirāʿah (beg. Ḥamd mar Qādirī rā kih dar ʿarṣah i c̲h̲ahār bāg̲h̲ i jahān), a treatise on agriculture (chiefly the culture of fruits, trees, flowers, vegetables and grains as practised in India, according to Nad̲h̲īr ¶ Aḥmad) composed in 921/1515, dedicated to an unnamed prince² and divided into a lengthy muqaddimah (bombastic talk in Ṣūfī strain) and eight short rauḍahs: Āṣafīyah ii p. 1218 nos. 349 (Harāt, ah 986/1578. See Nad̲h̲īr Aḥmad 237), 41 (ah 1013/1604–5), Tashkent Acad. i 721 (acephalous and lacking Rauḍahs iv–vii. 44 foll. ah 1197/1783), Ivanow 1612 (ah 1205/1790–1), Curzon 628 (foll. 47. 19th cent.), Blochet ii 916 (3) (acephalous. 19th cent.).

§ 631. Aḥmad ʿAlī b. M. K̲h̲alīl Jaunpūrī.

Risālah i nak̲h̲lbandīyah (beg. S̲h̲ukr u sp. i bīrūn az andāzah [u] qiyās Ṣāniʿī rā), on the cultivation of fruit-trees, flowers, vegetables and grains, abridged in 1205/1790–1 from works of Amān Allāh al-Ḥusainī⁴ designated as kitāb i S̲h̲ajarah i nihāl and nusk̲h̲ah i Ganj i bād-āward: Rieu ii 489b (ah 1205/ 1791), Ivanow Curzon 629 (ah 1261/1845).

§ 632. Among the works written for Sir John Murray (see pl. i § 1599) were
