§ 862. Jaʿfar al-Ṣādiq b. M. al-Bāqir was born at al-Madīnah in 80/699–70 or 83/702–3, and died there in 148/765 (see Ency. Isl. new ed. under D̲j̲aʿfar al-Ṣādiḳ; Brockelmann Sptbd. i p. 104; pl. ii § 817, etc.).
