Under this rubric only textual evidence for the Hebrew and Aramaic biblical texts will be discussed which is rooted in antiquity and late Antiquity, namely the biblical Dead Sea Scrolls (1.2.2), late ancient and early medieval proto-Masoretic manuscripts (1.2.2), the consonantal text of MT (1.2.2), and the Samaritan Pentateuch (1.2.3) as well as their history of research (1.2.1). The medieval Masoretic punctuations and annotations are addressed in entry 1.5.
