8.3.1 Titles of Jubilees

The book of Jubilees was known by numerous names in Greek. In his Panarion (39.6.1), Epiphanius of Salamis (ca. 310–403 C.E.) ascribes a tradition about the names of the wives of Cain and Seth to “Jubilees, also known as the ‘Little Genesis’ (λεπτῇ Γενέσει).”¹ Although the latter name, at least in its literal sense, does scant justice to a book longer than Genesis itself, Greek authors after Epiphanius usually referred to Jubilees…
