9.10.1 Nature and significance

The earliest translation of the book of Judith into Slavonic is found in western-rite Croat Glagolitic breviaries, the earliest of which is of the late thirteenth or early fourteenth century, and was, of course, based on Jerome’s Latin text (9.5).1 It did not, however, influence later versions.
