The earliest translation of the book of Judith into Slavonic is found in western-rite Croat Glagolitic breviaries, the earliest of which is of the late thirteenth or early fourteenth century, and was, of course, based on Jerome’s Latin text (9.5).¹ It did not, however, influence later versions.
