[German Version] (full name: Diego Rodríguez de Silva y Velázquez; Jun 6, 1599, Seville – Aug 7, 1660, Madrid). After studying in Seville with the painter and theoretician Francisco Pacheco, Velázquez went to Madrid, where he worked at the court of Philip IV after 1623. There he met P.P.
