Introduction ‘Arebica’ (or ‘Arabica’) (-[ts]-) is the most frequently used term for the adjusted version of the Arabic script that was used mainly by Bosnian Muslims to write Bosnian between the fifteenth and the nineteenth century, when Bosnia was part of the Ottoman Empire. In this article, ‘Bosnia’ and ‘Bosnian’ are short for ‘Bosnia and Herzegovina’ and ‘Bosnian and Herzegovinian’. Bosnia came under Ottoman rule in 1463.
