This article describes different approaches to objects, i.e., the labels of syntactic function assigned to non-subject arguments. The treatment of objects is first outlined from a general theoretical perspective with a special focus on the multifactorial, functional approach. Next, the treatment of objects and their properties in Slavic languages is discussed.
