, Abū Muḥammad, 51st dāʿī al-muṭlaḳ , or absolute dāʿī (addressed as Bāwa Ṣāḥib and Sayyidnā ), vicegerent of the 21st Imām’s (al-Ṭayyib) descendants, and leader of the small, predominantly Gud̲j̲arātī, Ismāʿīlī merchant community of Dāwūdī Bohorās [ q.v.]. He was born in Bombay in 1304/1886, assumed headship of the dawat ( = daʿwa ) from ʿAbd Allāh Badr al-Dīn in 1330/1912, and ruled till his death in Matheran in 1384/1965, when he was succeeded by his son, Muḥammad Burhān al-Dīn (b. 1334/1915).
