A. Meaning of the word

As a nomen actionis the noun γνώμη (not found in Homer or Hesiod), with its originally extraordinary comprehensive range of meaning must be considered together with the verb γιγνώσκω (gignṓskō) [11; 37. 491; 27. 32 (also with regard to etymology)].
