Praetorian prefect at the time of Nero. O.'s father was from Agrigentum, but had been banished to Scyllaeum. According to later tradition, O. was of lowly origin, and his names, which are hardly attested elsewhere, confirm this. Under the emperor Caligula O. maintained contact with members of the extended Imperial family. This led to his banishment from Rome; he was accused of, among other things, sexual misdemeanours with Agrippina [3] the Younger.
