At Trigaboli, the Padus (Po) divided (Pol. 2,16,11; somewhere near Ferrara) to north and south into the  O. (Volana, Plin. HN 3,120) and Padoa river branches, thus forming the delta. The mouth of the O. ran into a large harbour on the Adriatic (Pol. 2,16,12). Although its course today is somewhat different, the name has been preserved in that of the River Volano.
