Abstract
Greek zoonyms can be classified according to both zoological key terms and origin: thus they reflect Indo-European heritage, internal formation, cultural loans (Semitic/Egyptian/Berber), unknown (substratal?) origin. Mycenaean parallels ought to be quoted too, including derivatives and proper names.
