Windesheim Congregation, monastic branch of the devotio moderna. The initial stimulus for establishing a monastery is said to have come from G. Groote himself, to create a refuge for the defenseless devout exposed to all kinds of taunts. In 1387 Florentius Radewyns founded the Windesheim monastery near Zwolle, adopting the so-called Augustinian Rule (Augustine, Rule of Saint).
