This article first provides a general overview of the inherited Slavic prepositional system and the prepositional systems of three modern Slavic languages belonging to East, West, and South Slavic: Russian, Czech, and BCMS. Secondary predicates (SPs) comprise several phenomena, including verb particles, resultatives, and depictives, which are focused on here. Depictive SPs introduce an additional predication on top of the main verbal predication and are commonly described as participant-oriented adjuncts.
