[German version] Location at the mouth of the Orontes river where, in the 2nd millennium BC, the port of the city  Alalach was located. The town continued to exist for several centuries even after the demise of the port (around 1200 BC). Once  Seleucia (Pieria) was established as the port of  Antioch [1], Al-Mīnā was no longer significant. [German source] Al Mina is the name given to an ancient site in the Turkish province of Hatay and means ‘the harbour’. It lies 1.8 km inland, around 250 m from the northern bank of the Orontes/Arantu, attains a maximum altitude of 4 m and occupies approximately 1.6 ha, although it has suffered considerable losses from agriculture and the migration of the river bed [10312].
