BC, certainly before Varro (Ling. 10,10) and Didymus [1] Chalkenteros, who first made reference to him. Surviving from his works are 22 fragments (collected by [3]) and the title of one of his writings: Πρὸς Κράτητα/ Pròs Krátēta ('Against Crates'), a treatise in at least 2 volumes opposing the Pergamenian philologist Crates [5] of Mallus (2nd cent.
