Alexander of Pleuron praised him together with  Boeotus of Syracuse in an elegy (Ath. 15,699c). From preserved fragments it appears that E. parodied the elevated tone of the epic in Homeric hexameters while making craftsmen his subject (Ath. 15, 699a).
