album (‘white wooden plate’) at the magistrate's office. Literary tradition refers to edicts by

magistratus ), worin entweder konkrete Anordnungen gegeben wurden oder ein “Regierungsprogramm” [1. 58] für die kommende Amtsperiode. Das Wort läßt an eine urspr. mündliche Verkündung denken [2. 178], die histor. belegte Form aber ist die Aufzeichnung auf dem
album (“weiße Holztafel”) am Amtssitz des Magistrats. Die lit. Überlieferung nennt Edikte der
