[German Version] (1515, Eilenburg, Saxony – Apr 1, 1585, Utenbach, near Jena), Protestant theologian. He began his studies at Wittenberg in 1530, was taught by Luther, and received his M.A. in 1538. In 1541 he was appointed archdeacon in Jena and in 1542 at the Marienkirche in Halle. In 1547, after having been displaced by the Schmalkaldic War (Schmalkaldic League), he was appointed pastor in Nordhausen.
