[German Version] I. Early Church and Archbishopric Ravenna is one of the earliest churches (2nd/3rd cent.), but its founding by Apollinaris of Ravenna is legendary. The beginnings go back to the city itself, not the harbor town of Classe (Deichmann). The earliest secure date is 343 (Bishop Severus at the imperial council in Sardica [Homoeans]).
