Da es aber zu allen Zeiten und in allen Kulturen mündliche und z.T. auch schriftlich fixierte Erzählungen gegeben hat, die im heutigen Sinne des Terminus zweifellos als M. zu bezeichnen sind, wird die Frage nach dem M. auch für die Ant. zum sinnvollen und notwendigen Thema.
