Grammatico: Nome: Moschus | Μόσχος Luogo di provenienza: Siracusa Data: 2° sec. a.C. ↓ Elenco delle fonti Biografia: Poeta e grammatico siracusano vissuto nel 2° sec. a.C. e appartenente alla cerchia di Aristarco (LGGA, Aristarchus Samothrax), come si desume da Sud. μ 1278. Della sua produzione ci rimangono due componimenti sicuramente genuini, Ἔρως δραπέτης e l’epillio Εὐρώπη, e alcuni frammenti che riprendono temi tipici del corpus bucolicum. Vintimiglia (1663, p. 419), seguito da Blau (1883, pp. 24-25), propose di riferire a questo personaggio quanto si legge in Ateneo (11, 484f-485a. d-e) a proposito della λεπάστη: dopo aver riportato le interpretazioni di Ameria (LGGA, Amerias), Aristofane di Bisanzio (LGGA, Aristophanes Byzantius), Apollodoro di Atene (LGGA, Apollodorus [1]), Nicandro (LGGA, Nicander [2]) e Licofrone (LGGA, Lycophron), Ateneo afferma che secondo Mosco ἐν ἐξηγήσει Ῥοδιακῶν Λέξεων la λεπάστη sarebbe un vaso di ceramica, simile alle cosiddette πτωματίδες, ma più ampio. All’identificazione di questo Mosco con l’omonimo poeta si opponevano senza motivi cogenti Gräfenhan (1843, p. 547) e Bähr (1848, p. 174). Bibliografia: G.
