epist. 454, 4, which is dated to the winter of 355/6, calls him a γραμματιστής. The term, as Wolff (1953, p. 35) and Kaster (1988, pp. 447-452) have demonstrated, is used in Libanius and in the authors contemporaneous with him with the meaning of “teacher of rhetoric”, instead of the more common γραμματικός.
